How to Style an Occasion Dress for Day-Time

As I sit here and write this, I’ve just had a facial in McElhinneys, I’m chilling out watching Toy Story for the 5,000th time in my pyjamas. Best Saturday Ever.

Let me ask you a question, how many times have you said to yourself, “Oh I can’t wear that, it’s far too dressy”. Or, “No, that’s too casual to wear here”. Most of the time we get ourselves in a fluster over choosing an outfit for an event. (Or even if we’re just going shopping).

I’ve never been one to stick to Fashion “Rules” as such because rules are made to be broken of course!

I recently was gifted this amazing Floral Maxi dress from Virgo Boutique which I wore to the Kiss Products Party in the Merchant.

This dress is probably my favourite piece in my wardrobe at the moment and I have wanted to wear it every day since its arrived.

You might think that this is an “occasion” dress but anything can be dressed down. If you want to wear the fancy dress for a walk in to town for coffee then you bloody well can!

My Top 5 Tips to Styling an outfit for Day Time

Wear flats. Or if you’re feeling really bold, add a pair of trainers.
An across body bag or back pack works best for Day Time Outfits.
Don’t go heavy on your makeup. I’m talking minimal contour, natural eyeshadow and nude lipstick.
Add a pair of sunglasses.
Keep your hair simple.
