Weekend Away – Dublin

Me and Mum decided to rise early on groggy Sunday morning to catch a three and a half hour bus journey to Dublin for the Irish Beauty Show.

I had forgotten how much I love Dublin. There is an amazing buzz around the whole city – you forget youre in Ireland. There are so many tourists and every corner you turn there is music. Luckily for us, the sun was shining the whole weekend.

Day 1 – Shopping in Dundrum

We stayed at The Morgan Hotel in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. Such a quirky, modern hotel and to our delight – there were robes waiting for us in our room.

Once we got settled at the hotel, it was time to head for Dundrum Shopping Centre. We had heard so much praise for this place that we had to see what the fuss was about. And even better – Pippa O’Connor had just opened her Poco pop up shop that Friday!

So after a quick detour round Brown Thomas and Grafton Street (where we picked up waffles at Gino Gelato’s), we headed on the Luas from St Stephen’s Green to Dundrum.

Seeing Dundrum shopping centre felt like how Harry must have felt seeing Hogwarts for the first time – the excitement kept building the closer we got!

Here, we hit Harvey Nichols, River Island, H & M, Zara, Penneys – See my favourite picks:

And Finally – we headed to POCO by Pippa – the main reason we were here. Now I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted. Good job too as the shop was absolutely crazy with girls grabbing jeans everywhere. I picked the Off-Duty Jean (So did Mum). They’re so soft and comfortable! – More on this in a later post.

We headed back to Temple Bar for a seat after amounting to 15,000 steps, where we ended up at Oliver St John Gogartys listening to live music.

After a few drinks and some singing, we headed for tea at Hard Rock Cafe and then it was back to the Hotel, changed in to robes to relax and prepare for the next morning when we’d be going to the Irish Beauty Show.

Day 2 – Irish Beauty Show

I can’t even begin to explain how crazy the Irish Beauty Show was. It was how I imagine a chicken would feel in a poultry farm. So many people grabbing brushes, lipsticks, nails, tan and almost climbing over one another!

It was quite overwhelming to say the least but I did manage to pick up some amazing beauty items!

  • Blank Canvas E44 Brush
  • Bellamantia Tan – Including Miniature & Mit
  • Mehron Copper Pigment
  • Ben Nye Banana Powder
  • Ardell Wispie Eyelashes
  • Teeth Whitening Kit (Review to follow)
  • Aluxe Sunglasses – And even got a compliment from Rosie Connolly at her  Stand!

After 17,000 steps at the Show – we decided it was time to head back and went a wee dander through the streets of Dublin.
